I am not going to explain about these toolbars in deep conversation as they are directly not related to SEO, but they are related to much useful information to help you with the SEO.
However, you don't want to be a SEO specialist or do your own SEO using Linux or similar. I always recommend the Windows, Windows explorer or Firefox. Alexa toolbar and Google toolbar are the most useful ones. However, you don't have to have all these toolbars open at the same time, if you don't use them. You can simply disable or close or untick the not necessary toolbars.
You will need one more important thing for your keywords research. You will need the Google Keyword Analysis. Go to the web page by clicking Google Keyword Analysis. Then add it to your favorite bar. It is just to make SEO work much handier and quicker for you. This is the best and free keyword researching tool. Alexa is a company what is owned by Amazon.com and partnered with Google and Microsoft. It has been around for a long time and millions of people use it. Every time some uses the toolbar, it counts as an extra traffic for the website what is used through the toolbar. You can quickly see how popular a site is and easy check the incoming traffic rate. Start using the Alexa tool and you will easily get used to it. You can directly check a site owners name and details for a site. This tool bar is free from any kind of advertising, so you are free from viruses or anti-spyware. Keep using it and you will see the benefit from it.
However, I do not recommend the Ask.com tool bar as it contains some advertising and could bring spy-ware in your PC which could harm your PC. Using Google and Alexa tool bars will do enough for your SEO work and ranking information.
